The Taurus Model 66SS6 seems to be a nice handgun straight out of the box. First impressions were that the finish was excellent. Not a mark anywhere to be found on it. There is virtually zero end play in the cylinder.

First outing with it showed a very spread group of 10 rounds at 25 yards. The ammo I fired was just some reloads I had around and all I can say for them is I know for sure they were Hornady 180 grain XT/HP bullets but for the load, I have no idea. The idea was to see how it functioned (after the indexing problem with my Taurus Model 44SS6 .44 Mag) and to get a ruff zeroing so I can start to work on loads it will like. Consistent 2" groups isn't of much concern really as I usually shoot falling plate at 25 yards. Therefore anything in a 4" group will do the job.

Trigger pull using DA is way on the heavy side and SA was heavier than I like but after 200-300 rounds has settled in to be a crisp 4lb 2oz.

Basically my first impressions shooting are very good and although not a tack driver like my Dan Wesson Model 15 .357 Magnum, I believe this is going to be a very nice workhorse handgun on range days.

This gun developed a problem with the cylinder not locking up and I sent it back to Taurus under the Taurus Lifetime Waranty. This was fixed but 2 out of 2 Taurus revolvers I bought at the same time both had to go back for work by the factory. Very, very poor quality revolvers ... will I buy another Taurus revolver? ... not very bloody likely! Both are great now and I will keep and shoot them but never will I buy another Taurus.
