Items in my GPR Hunting and Shooting Possibles Bag

MY GREAT PLAINS RIFLE (GPR) POSSIBLES BAG
(the basics I take out hunting and shooting)

The picture below shows the basic equipment I take with me when hunting or shooting my Lyman's GPR in my possibles bag. You may use different items or take more or less than I have listed but I have found that the items listed are enough to have a fun-filled afternoon at the local gun club or out hunting.

Of course when range shooting I can afford to take my full black powder range box and hence, I can include way more equipment such as extra black powder, tools, safety items and a variety of cleaning supplies. The range is only 5 miles from my front door but it is a real pain to pack up everything and drive home to get something I have forgotten, so I just take along everything and then some.

Use your mouse to hover over the items in the picture below to get a description and other information of each item.

Possibles Bag. A very nice size, not too big and not too small and holds everything I need. Percussin Cap Holder. Holds a complete tin of 100 #11 percussion caps. Quantity of bore cleaning patches. Usually about 30 or so to clean out the bore between shots. Pipe cleaners. Great for cleaning those hard to get to places once the nipple and cleanout screw are removed. Ball starter. A no brainer here ... helps get the ball started that first 2 or 3 inches. Allen wrench for removing the GPR cleaning screw. Note 1. Home made Mossy Oak lead ball bag. I usuall, take about 20 lead balls with me but will hold well over 100. #11 nipple wrench with nipple pick. Two tools in one. Anything to save space and make life easy. CVA .54 caliber pre-lubricated patches. The container is an old ear plug container and holds about 40 patches. Air tight and waterproof to boot. Thompson Center U-View powder flask. Holds about 12 x 80 grain loads. Never get caught short again. Thompson Center U-View Powder Measure. Great so you can ensure that there is no air spaces and that the full load of powder went down the barrel. .54 caliber cleaning jag (10x32 thread to fit into end of the GPR ramrod). Note 1. .54 caliber patch puller (10x32 thread to fit into end of the GPR ramrod). Note 1. Spare #11 nipples. I usually have two spares. They take almost no room so why not. Note 1.

Note 1. A small plastic pill bottle keeps these small items in one convenient place
