I bought my Taurus PT92 AFS 9mm about 2001, mainly because it looked like a well made handgun for considerably less cost than any equivalent 9mm. Also the fact that Taurus comes with a lifetime warranty did not hurt any either.

The pistol itself looks almost identical to a Beretta PT92 and with good reason. I read, but have not verified that Beretta had a factory to make PT92s on contract for the military etc. After all production needs were met Beretta sold everything, including tooling, technical drawings, basically the whole plant to Taurus.

I have put 1000s of rounds through my PT92 and can honestly say I have never had a stoppage or a mis-feed. I buy any 9mm Parabellum (Luger) ammunition that happens to be on sale and everything I have used works fine.

The finish is very, very good and the fit of the slide and other parts are great also. I did change the rear sight to a LPA TPU29TS 3-dot system adjustable which has made a good gun, great. I bought extra magazines from Cheap-As-Dirt, which were generic and have never had a problem with them. I think the one thing I dont really like about this pistol is the trigger. There is a lot of free travel until the trigger sear finally releases but it is something you get use to and now after 1000s of rounds it doesn't really even seem worth mentioning.

This handgun has given me a great deal of shooting pleasure at the range and I would not part with or trade it for the world. Lord only knows how many more 1000s of rounds will go down range using this handgun and how many countless hours of enjoyment it will give in the future.
